That’s so good you can be aware of it then release, I think sometimes even being aware of the hard part, we’re so used to the message that to do anything creative or for ourselves has to be without kids, and that everything has to have a ‘purpose’
This is gorgeous, and I now really want to make a coral castle!!!!! I find this a bit similar just when I colour with Sophia, I can get quite immersed in it, although I don’t get many chances with the tornado toddler around!!! Beautiful piece xxxx

And yes you are so right, I can’t remember the last time I carved out time for ‘pointless play’. The closest I have come recently is painting an old cabinet that allowed me to be present and zone out at the same time to reach that state of flow, but I guess there was still a point to it. I value my alone time to write so much but it always feels as though I need to fit so much into the precious time.
Thank you for the reminder to get out my paints that have been gathering dust on a shelf since my daughter was born 4 and a half years ago…! xx
Doing pointless things is so hard! Because as you said, our time is so limited and so precious, but yes! Get down those paints and paint alongside your daughter! I recently got some watercolours and now I get really into painting time with the boys, I’m technically absolutely rubbish, but it’s fun!
